How to Turn One Cookie Dough Into 5 Easy Easter Cookies

And if you have… don’t sleep on this 👀

This dough is actually crazy versatile, and with a few easy swaps, you can turn it into completely different Easter cookies without starting from scratch. Whether you’re baking for fun, for family, or for a market, these are easy ways to switch things up depending on what you have on hand.

1. Reese’s Egg Cookie

For a peanut butter Easter version (I mean, is there even a better version?), swap in Reese’s chips (or do a mix of Reese’s chips and chocolate chips in the dough).

As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, gently press a Reese’s egg into the top of each cookie. The heat "glues" it to the cookie and it cools into a delicious Easter masterpiece.

2. Pastel M&M (or PB M&M Egg 😍) Cookie

If you want something classic and colorful, pastel M&Ms are a perfect swap.

You can replace the Cadbury eggs entirely or do a mix of M&Ms and chocolate chips. If you're more of a peanut butter person, you can also use the peanut butter M&M eggs as a direct exchange for the Cadbury mini eggs. This version is simple, festive, and great if you’re baking with kids or bringing cookies to a gathering.

3. White Chocolate Sprinkle Cookie

For a fun, springy, colorful variation, mix white chocolate chips and Easter sprinkles into the dough.

The white chocolate keeps the flavor smooth and sweet, while the sprinkles add color without changing the texture. This one has that classic “Easter cookie” look but still tastes like a bakery-style cookie.

4. Berry Cheesecake Cookie

If you want something a little different, this one gives you a fresh, slightly tangy flavor (and is my personal fav...shhhhh don't tell the others).

Add freeze-dried strawberries and/or blueberries along with cream cheese chips to the dough. It creates a berry cheesecake vibe that feels lighter and really perfect for spring, summer....or literally any time. 🤤

5. Easter S’mores Cookie

This one is the eye-catching one.

Mix chocolate chips with chopped graham crackers or Biscoff cookies into the dough. Then, when the cookies come out of the oven, press a Peep on top of each cookie.

The Peep softens slightly from the heat and gives you that gooey, marshmallow, smore'sy feel without needing to actually bake it into the cookie.

Pro Tips for Even Better Cookies

If you want to take these up a notch, here are a couple of simple upgrades:

  • For the Cadbury or M&M versions, add a light sprinkle of flaky sea salt right after baking to balance the sweetness
  • Try swapping some of the chocolate chips for chopped chocolate bars for a more melty, bakery-style texture

These small changes can take the cookies to a new level for sure.

Grab the Base Recipe

All of these variations start with the same dough, so if you haven’t made it yet, you can grab my free Cadbury Mini Egg cookie recipe here:

If you want some other showstopper recipes perfect for Easter and spring, a few that I am absolutely obsessed with are the Pistachio Cake Ball Stuffed Cookie, Neapolitan Stuffed Cookie (with real-fruit strawberry dough), and Strawberry Shortcake cookie.

I adore these because I am not a massive fan of sweets (gasp! I know....HUH?!), and since I don't make my cake balls with frosting, they are perfectly tender and full of flavor but not overly sweet! Combined with the buttery cookie dough and different textures, they are perfection. 🤤

Final Thoughts

Taking strong base doughs and creating a ton of variations is truly my jam is so much fun. It was an incredible way to stay efficient when we had our commercial bakery. I did write a blog post of this topic, so if you'd like more info, you can find that here: How To Reuse One Base Dough

If you try one of these versions, I’d love to hear which one you went with or if you came up with a new epic one of your own. 🥰

Happy baking and have the best Easter! He is Risen, He is Risen indeed!!  🤍✝️
